Maricopa Charter Party 4/28/2018

It was a historic day in Maricopa as the new Zonta Club of Maricopa is officially chartered, Club 1973. Thank you to Mayor Christian Price, Council members Julia Gusse, Vincent Manfredi and Henry Wade for your support. Thank you, Zonta of Casa Grande, Zonta of East Valley, Special thanks to our District 9 Governor Mele Spencer who came all the way from Hawaii to be with us. Special thank you to our Lt. Governor Ann Banks who also joined us. 

A very special thanks to Debbie Angwood who was the Casa Grande President and gave that up to become the first Maricopa President and helped us get the Zonta Club of Maricopa started. Thank you to all the members for being a part of this great organization of women helping women.

Special thank you to Mary Witkofski, LMSW, CPM who is the Community Programs Manager at Maricopa Police Department for being our guest speaker at our May Meeting Zonta Club of Maricopa, we look forward to working with her and the new Maricopa Advocacy Center. 
The Maricopa Police Department in coordination with several community partners is starting a Family Advocacy Center in Maricopa. This will provide holistic, comprehensive care and investigation service for victims of crime with co-located service centers for victims of family violence and their children.

General Meeting 6/21/18

We had a great general meeting, President, Lucinda Boyd inducted two new members into our Maricopa club. Congratulations Gayle Randolph and Chrystal Allen O’Jon!

We had our Governor-Elect, Ann Banks at our meeting as well as Maricopa City Council members Henry Wade and Julia Gusse. Other guests include Kent O’Jon and Gwen Taylor.

Linette Caroselli speaking on Sex Trafficking and her personal family story having had to go through it, here in Maricopa Arizona. Sex Trafficking can happen anywhere to anyone and we need more education and awareness about it.

The Zonta Club of Maricopa had their January Meeting at the Headquarters restaurant on 1/17/2019. Chaplin Edward Lunga, of the Moyo Africa Foundation, was our guest speaker. Our international project this past year was making Birthing Kits to send to another Country. Our Birthing kits will go to Zambia, Africa to the Kanyuka village where Chaplin Lunga is from and his organization helps to elevate the people there. ​

Congratulations to our newest Young Professional, member of the Zonta Club of Maricopa, Welcome Demesha! She was inducted by Club President, Lucinda Boyd on 8/15/18 at the general meeting. Three generations of Zontians present, Demesha's mother Tausha Sander and her grandmother, Distrist 9 Givernor Ann Banks.

A Special thank you To Maricopa Councilwoman Julia Gusse and Zonta Member for being our guest speaker at our September Meeting!

District 9 Conference was held in October 2019 in Kauai Hawaii. Our club was represented by President Lucinda Boyd, VP Tausha Sander and Area Director Debbie Angwood. Aloha!

Zonta celebrates 100 years of empowering women, We received a Proclamation from the Mayor and City of Maricopa. Happy Birthday, Zonta. 

Here's to many more years of educating, helping, empowering, fighting for women. 

 The Zonta Club of Maricopa Celebrated our Zonta Centennial with a women’s March.

The Zonta Club of Maricopa was represented and also received a $500 donation from Amazon at the Maricopa Music Fest/Lip Sync Edition.

This will go towards funding our scholarships locally in Maricopa.

Shout out to Amazon and Kent and Chrystal Allen-O'Jon.

The Zonta Club of Maricopa participated in the Maricopa Veterans Day Parade.

We had a great Zonta November meeting with guest speakers Dr. Yolanda Rodriguez who

spoke on women's health and Wendy Webb who spoke about the Maricopa Food Bank

Our annual Christmas party was fun, we had lots of fun with games and a gift exchange.

We all brought donations for the Maricopa Advocacy Center toy closet.
